January 29, 2008

  • 6:55am - Karen starts having contractions. Stacy Perkins (Karen's friend) had spent the night with us that previous night. Stacy and Kevin time the contractions.

  • 8:10am - We call the doctor and decide to leave for the hospital. Karen is yelling at Kevin to stop "fiddle-farting" (excact words).... I didn't have time to pack a good snack like I wanted.

  • 8:30am - Arrive at hospital. Karen is 3 cm dilated.

  • 9:00am - Get admitted into the labor/delivery room. Pass Kim and Anthony Schifano in the hallway.

  • 10:45am - Both sets of our parents arrive at the hospital.

  • 11:45am - Karen get the epidural. She starts feeling a lot better. 4-5 cm dilated.

  • 2:10pm - Dr. Lee checks progress. 6 cm dilated. Karen's water breaks during exam.

  • 5:55pm - Karen starts pushing. Just about this time there is a Tornado Warning in Hendricks County. 100 MPH winds outside the hospital.

  • 7:21 pm - Courtney Jane Alexander is born. She is beautiful.
  • Courtney weighs 8lbs. 4 oz. and is 20 and a half inches long.

  • Nini and Papaw Alexander and Hedrick, Kevin, Alex, and Andrew Hedrick, Brad, Julie, and Jameson Laughlin are all in the waiting room awaiting word. "Its a Girl"! Karen Hedrick wanted very much to be there but we had to call her on the phone because she is restricted to bed-rest and couldn't make the trip.
